Selecting Suitable Battery Technologies for Untethered Robot

Untethered robots carry their own power supply in the form of a battery pack, which has crucial impact on robot’s performance. Although technologies are richly studied and optimized for applications such as electric vehicles, computers smartphones, they often mere afterthought design process robot system. This tutorial paper proposes criteria to evaluate suitability different robotic applications. Taking into consideration requirements applications, capabilities relevant evaluated compared. The also discusses current limitations new technological developments, pointing out opportunities interdisciplinary research between technology robotics communities.
